Rev. Kyle Nelson graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN in May 2022. He was called to serve First Lutheran Church in Chickasha, OK, and was ordained and installed there on July 9, 2022. He lives in the congregation’s parsonage with his wife and children.
Prior to seminary, Pastor Nelson was originally from Mesa, AZ. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Music degree in music composition and percussion performance. During college he was introduced to the writings of Luther and the Lutheran Reformation, and soon an interest in theology began to surpass any musical ambitions. After getting married in 2015 he moved to Wichita, KS, where he worked for a time in a machine shop, and where a faithful pastor helped guide him toward seminary.
Pastor Nelson still enjoys studying and composing music when possible, but he spends most of his “home time” striving to raise up his children in Christian faith and virtue. He’s particularly interested in studying Greek and Latin, so as to become more acquainted with how Christians in antiquity confessed and practiced the faith.
As a minister of the Word, Pastor Nelson is called to preach the Gospel and administer the sacraments faithfully here at First Lutheran. It is his duty to shepherd all who come to him into deeper repentance and faith in Christ for the forgiveness of sins. He is usually in his study at the church during the day, Monday through Thursday (when not making pastoral visits), and he would be happy to speak to you about any spiritual needs you may have.
